The official achievement text

Steam describes “Terrorizing bird” as: “Defend the scared islanders from the terrorizing bird.” This ties the unlock to a quest, not simply to killing any seagull you see. Activate the islanders’ request before committing a rare lure or expensive supplies.

Quest route

1. Find and talk to the scared islanders. Confirm their bird-related objective is active.
2. Prepare before using the lure. An attributed launch walkthrough shows a professional boss lure being used for this part of the run.
3. Choose open sight lines. You need to see the bird’s approach without placing yourself at the edge of a cliff, prop cluster or boat trap.
4. Defeat the encounter and collect the distinct bird trophy. Do not confuse it with an ordinary seagull or generic meat.
5. Return to the quest giver. The quest context and hand-in are part of the achievement condition.

Handling the bird’s passes

Launch discussion advice is sparse but consistent on one point: dodge rather than standing still and trying to trade damage. Keep the bird in view, move across its approach line and fire during the recovery gap after a pass. In co-op, spread out so one dive does not disrupt every player.

Players sometimes call the encounter an albatross, while the achievement itself only says “terrorizing bird.” The game’s own quest and achievement text should take priority over community nicknames.

Why the hand-in matters

Several How to Fish quests complete only when the distinct boss result reaches the right NPC. After the bird falls, preserve the unusual trophy/head item, return to the scared islanders and finish their dialogue. Killing an unrelated seagull is used by other achievements and should not be treated as a substitute.
